"Ginger" Quilt Top Finish

Yeah!  My latest quilt top is finally finished!

Meet "Ginger":

Ginger has taken me a very long time to make because there are about a million pieces to it.  The gingerbread kids and clothes are all fused and sewn with machine applique.  Their hair is hand embroidered and they have been embellished with ribbons and buttons.  The heart posts in the sashings are fushed and machine appliqued.  The houses (and trees) are all paper pieced.  A major problem that I had with this quilt is that the house blocks didn't fit as the pattern said they would.  I had to go back and remove the white (sky) portions of the house blocks, cut new background blocks and then machine applique (not fused) the houses to them.  This was no small feat, as the quilt is 80" square.  It may have been a pain in the neck to do, but she turned out quite cute, I think.

Here are some close-ups of the blocks and borders:

Here are some close-ups of the kids:
The white mark on her eye is part of the chalk mark I made to position the eyes and the others are just strings.  I used a permanent black marker for the eyes.

Whoops ... You can't see the eyes because the fabric is too dark.

Well, that's all for now.  Onto other projects.

Have a great day and thanks for visiting me here!
