So Busy

I have been so totally swamped with quilting projects lately that I don’t even know what to work on first!  I was working on a quilt kit called “Rachel’s Joy” when I ran into a snag, so I put it on hold until I could get some replacement fabric.  While doing that, I received the “Lovebird Lane” quilt kit that I had ordered…that was my previous post.  I managed to get two blocks cut out when I received my “Sweet Tea” kit and had to drool over that and decide whether to start on that one, when I got an order for a crib quilt.  That was the same day I received the fabric for “Rachel’s Joy” that I had originally been working on.  And I still have five quilts waiting to be quilted on my long-arm!  Oh dear, what do I do first????  Since the crib quilt order is for someone other than myself, I guess I need to make it first.  Yes, that is the right thing to do.
This crib quilt was ordered by a person that had seen one of my quilt pictures on Flickr and wanted to buy it; however, that particular quilt is my very most favorite and I have been waiting and waiting to get my bedroom redecorated for a very long time so I could actually use it … so I had to decline the sale.  Since I still had enough of the fabric I had used in that quilt, I offered to make her another one and she decided on this crib quilt.
Now that I have mentioned how long I have waited to be able to use my favorite quilt, let me say more.  When I made this quilt, I loved it so much that I made matching shams, pillows, and drapes.  My bedroom has three windows … a single one on one wall and a double window on another wall so I made three drapery panels.  Each panel is 108” wide by 108” long (very large because I like lots of gathering on top).  They consist of large patchwork blocks of each of the fabrics used in my quilt, with sashing and a large section at the top (where the curtain rod will go) that is made from some wonderful bark cloth of pink roses on a white background. The drapes are backed with solid white fabric and then quilted…no batting.  I have recently added faux crystals along one edge of each drape that will hang very nicely when the drapes are pulled over to one side and hooked to the wall.  I hung them up to see what they looked like, and they are beautiful (if NOT practical) with the sunlight coming through the windows!  I will post pictures when everything is done.  I also bought a full size pink wrought-iron dress form that will go nicely with my white wicker settee set with coordinating seat cushions.  I’m so excited about this I can hardly wait until the room is ready!!
Well, I’m off to work on the crib quilt … more later.
Have a wonderful weekend!

LL PtrnsHere are the patterns … 6 of them!
This one is an accessory pack that came with it.

These are fabric pictures (still attached to the plastic backing) that I will cut out on the dotted lines and appliqué to various birdhouse blocks later.  Cute idea, huh?
I looked at the patterns and can only say WOW, what a lot of pieces to cut!  The large blocks are pieced, not appliquéd!  Didn’t expect that.
Well, I better get busy on this or it could take a year!

I hope all of you are having as much fun as I am!

New Quilt Kits

I came upon a couple of quilts  that I just can’t live without.  The first one is called “Sweet Tea”.  It’s a wonderful pattern by Arlene and Melissa of The Quilt Company.  The fabrics are called “Sweet Love” and are made by Maywood Studios.  Just looking at this quilt with it darling teapots and inviting tea cup borders makes me want to share a cup with some friends!  I have already ordered the kit.

The other one that is just as darling is also by Arlene and Melissa.  It is called “Lovebird Lane”.  The fabrics for this one are called “Wild Rose” and are another wonderful collection by Maywood Studios.  I have also ordered this as a kit and can’t wait to get it so I can start sewing!

An update on the Paris fabrics mentioned in a previous post is that I located a quilt shop that has them available as pre-orders.  They are not expected until January, 2011.  Check them out at Over The Rainbow Quilt Shop if you are interested.
